# Beta Version 12.5.4 Available for Testing on July 25th, 2023

This new beta has a few improvements for date handling.

- There is now better handling for time values as part of the date field.
- A value of `now` in a Date field will be replaced with the current date and time (unlike a value of `today`, which only supplies the current date).
- Date values are now saved to disk in a year-month-date hours:minutes:seconds format suitable for sorting, unless the date field contains something excessively funky, in which case the user’s input will be preserved.

Interested in feedback from anyone using Notenik to store date fields.
