My first computer was an apple ][ — not an Apple //e or even an apple ][+ — an apple ][, and I sprang for an extra 32KB so that I could write a little text processor for keeping my class notes. The notes never really got learned properly, but I had fun programming it.

My other interests include the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, classical music, espresso, cartography, linguistics, keyboards (for typing), Macintosh (the Apple computer), cider-making (with lower-case apples), &c.
