Just asking - did you mean October? I’m fine waiting a month haha. Jokes aside, thanks for all the updates and especially the Knowledge Base - I reference it a lot in keeping my notes organized.

Herb - is there a separate, better place to ask about “Seq” and other such tags that can be used to sort or order things? What I want to know is like … are there best practices for applying these fields, or a top-line comparison, and how did you come to know/design them?

From reading other various posts, I think there may be a skill set out there or education that I didn’t get about classifying things or some type of taxonomy. Figured it might be knowledge native to developers so that’s why I’m asking!

If this is outside the scope of this post or overall website/discord, no sweat. Figured I’d ask so that I’m using Notenik to its fullest.

@learg12 Did you check sorting options under Collection > Sort on menubar?

Thanks for pointing out my error in calling out the month of the release – I guess I’m just in a hurry to get to the holiday season!

This Discourse Forum is definitely an appropriate place to ask the kind of question you have posed above. There are different categories, but sometimes these overlap, and people are not too strict about where to post things within the Discourse forum, so – again – your question above is fine.

As you’ve noticed, Notenik offers you lots of options for organizing a Collection of Notes, and tries not to be too prescriptive about which you use or how you use them. As @zgr points out, you can look at the Sort options to see which fields might be most useful.

The Seq field is the most flexible organizing tool, since it can be used in several different ways.

And that gives me an idea!

Maybe a little explanation of the Seq field and its many uses would be a good topic for my next “Adventures with Notenik” post!

Let me try to write something up in the next day or two, and see if that helps.

Thanks for your question!

That sounds great. Thank you both for your insight here. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply.
