Notenik 16.6.2 Available for Beta Testing on April 3rd, 2025

I’ve added a new option to the Share with Options window, allowing the use of a merge template for selecting the content and formatting it. This involves the creation of a share folder within a collection, and then the placement of one or more custom template files within that folder. Note that the output can be in any format that can be stored in a text file.

Interested in any feedback on this that anyone might have.

Thanks!

This beta version is no longer available. Look for a later beta release or the most recent Mac App Store release.

Ah, those merge templates—that’s a part of Notenik I’m completely unfamiliar with. I more or less understand how they’re constructed, but I’ve never actually used them. Maybe a little push from @hbowie and others could be helpful. At least a screenshot…

The ability to use a Merge template is very powerful. It works well in my testing. Would it be possible to use it for all selected files instead of just one? That would make it much more useful, at least for me. One thing I would use it for would be to copy Wiklinks in the [[File name|Title]] format for a set of selected notes using a Merge template (with a NoteID that results in a filename different from the title).

That’s an interesting idea. Let me think about it.

@rkp135 See the latest beta for an attempt to address your suggestion of sharing multiple notes at once. This should work with merge templates, as well as any other share option. Let me know how this works for you!

This works great in the Lists tab. The fact that it works with all the share options opens up a range of uses. For one, it can be used to emulate the “scrivenings” feature: one can see the body of a set of notes combined in a browser window. The merge templates option opens up a set of workflows that I for one will definitely use quite a bit. Thank you!

One thing that I noticed though was that it wasn’t really working in the Outline tab.
