Notenik 17.2.2 Available for Beta Testing on July 7th, 2025

Don’t know if anyone else would be interested in this, but I’ve added a new Display Mode that is called Continuous Reading. It essentially stitches together all of the notes in a collection into one long scrolling display, while reducing the amount of metadata displayed to a minimum, as with Streamlined Reading. Not recommended for really big collections, but might work quite well when working on sections and subsections that are eventually intended to be published as one piece.

Let me know if you try it out, and have feedback.

This beta version is no longer available. Look for a later beta release or the most recent Mac App Store release.

I really like this feature. What would make it even more useful is if you could add an option to choose the notes that are stitched together in the Continuous Reading view, perhaps through a checkbox. The checkbox would ideally be visible (even if not editable) in the list of notes when choosing this view.

Interesting suggestion! Let me give this a bit of a think…

Would it be sufficient to just provide an option to show the currently selected notes? Or do you need some sort of collector (like a checkbox) that would stick around longer?

I think an option to show the currently selected notes should suffice. If there is a Boolean field associated with the display, one could in principle use the field to generate a report of the selecetd notes.

Would this be applicable to say, essays? Something that might read 20-30 pages front to back but would make sense to have chapters or sections?

Yes! That’s exactly what I had in mind! Try out the latest beta and see how it works for you!
