Please allow for dots in generated file names

As the topic goes  – Please allow for dots in generated file names.

Use case for me: as a Note ID setting I have seq + title so I have something like 1.1 Folgezettel as a title which results in 1-1 Folgezettel.md as a filename.

However, [[1.1 Folgezettel]] won’t work in other apps as a Wikilink, such as iA Writer, which expect 1.1 Folgezettel.md as a filename for that to work.

Thanks for your consideration!

All my files and folders on my Mac use dots in their filenames, except for those created by Notenik. I’ve gotten used to it, especially since I don’t usually access my Notenik files outside the app. However, I’d second this request—not only for better interoperability, but also because dots take up less space than dashes and, in my opinion, are easier on the eyes.

By the way, I gave up on Wikilinks a long time ago—they’re too fragile, and different apps handle them inconsistently. Instead, I rely on linking via URL schemes or Hook, both of which are natively supported by Notenik.

Sounds interesting, thank you. I’ll have a look into that!

See the latest beta for a new Notenik Setting to allow dots in filenames.

This works well—thank you very much!

I tested it with renaming, in- and outdenting etc., no problems so far.
