Setting Default Values for Fields

This feature allows the user to create a pseudo-class template file named defaults (followed by the preferred file extension for the Collection) and then fill in any default values for fields that should be initialized with the specified value when a new Note is created.

As with real class templates, the user can conveniently start by selecting New Class Template… beneath the Collection menu, and then editing it using the user’s preferred text editor, filling in any desired default values.

This can be done even if the Collection does not include a class field.

This is useful for field types such as Status, where you typically want to start with some low value (but not with spaces, which is otherwise the default for all fields in a new Note).

See the Notenik Knowledge Base for details.
