I know I’ve had some feedback that the standard Display tab could use some styling improvements, and I’ve also had some suggestions that Notenik might benefit from having a number of different styles to choose from, for the Display tab. (Essentially, different CSS files to be applied.)
Does anyone have any more input on this subject, or any suggestions for what sorts of alternate styling might be useful/appreciated?
Thanks in advance for any useful suggestions.
(I’m wondering if there are custom styles that any of you have actually used that you have found to be an improvement.)
Each of my Collections has a different Display style, primarily background color and font (and font color), that helps me distinguish one from the other.
So I appreciate being able to change the Display style but I realize some pre-baked solutions might appeal to those who aren’t familiar with CSS. It’s such a matter of taste (serif/sans serif, not to mention colors), though, that I don’t think of any of mine as an improvement. They’re just different, which is what I need.
It might be helpful, though, to have a forum section devoted to sharing Display templates with a screen shot showing what the template looks like.
We all have different tastes, and different visual needs. I feel that offering a variety of built-in styles would make a world of difference for many users.
While I’m comfortable generating a display.css and a display.html file and making a few tweaks, this is because I now understand what I am doing. As a newcomer I would have been very much happier to find a menu that offered a few friendly styles.
I can imagine that @hbowie would generate some sensible defaults. His web sites all look like they’ve been produced with a designer’s eye.
I would suggest a black on white default and a few font variations for serif and sans serif. In addition, a colour option for light-mode and for dark-mode.
For example, I often drop the tops off the Green and the Blue components to soften the background colour and knock the text colour away from pure black.
