Context is as described in the title with the additional component of having multiple collection windows open. Crashes seem to occur when expanding an outline level.
I’ve experienced this with the latest official release and the current beta version 16.8.2 (841).
I hope that this information suffices and I’d be happy to provide more info or run tests if necessary.
The crash report is attached below.
Notenik [14355].txt.zip (9.5 KB)
Thanks.
Edit:
Here’s a report generated following a crash while navigation through the normal list view.
Notenik [16037].txt.zip (10.0 KB)
It’s not immediately apparent to me what might be causing the crashes.
Can you try the latest beta and see if this by any chance fixes the problem?
If not, then can you tell me more about what sort of activity might have preceded the crashes? And if there’s anything unusual about the collections involved?
The stuff you’re describing is stuff that I do everyday, and I’m not seeing any crashes currently.
Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Appears to me that the issue was on my end. I’ve been in the middle of rearranging and replacing notes between collections, some of which have Templates inconsistent with one another. Now that I think of it, that was probably the cause.
Thanks for your help, Herb.

Well, sorry my app crashed on you. Ideally it shouldn’t do that no matter what you throw at it. But happy to hear it didn’t crash under normal circumstances. I won’t pursue this further at this time.
A brief follow up
…with the hopes that this may help others in the future:
It doesn’t look like it was the Templates themselves that appeared to be the problem, but inconsistent shortcuts in cross-collection Wikilinks with the Backlinks field activated.
This problem likely arose after using the forget all shortcuts command and not reinitializing the shortcuts by reopening the corresponding collections. I find that it was useful to restart Notenik after opening the offending collections just to be sure.
Other factors that I thought of but ruled out after testing them out
-
Inconsistent file formats (e.g., a note from a YAML formatted collection being dragged-and-dropped into a collection that’s Notenik formatted)
-
AKA values being used to identify a note in cross-collection Wikilinks
-
AKA values being used to identify a note in cross-collection Wikilinks with an alias (e.g., [[shortcut/AKA|Alias]]
)
