Notenik 18.9.2 Available for Beta Testing on May 13th, 2026

This beta introduces the Mark field type.

This is in response to the recent feature request for hoisting/filtering.

Note two important omissions:

  • No documentation has yet been provided;
  • The actual filtering/hoisting function has not yet been implemented.

What you can do with this beta is try out the new Mark field type. You can check/uncheck this field value through the normal editing process.

In addition, you will find the following functionality:

  • When a Note is ‘marked’, there will be a small indicator of this condition on the various Collection views (List, Tags and Outline);
  • On these same three views, there will be a context menu item to Mark or Unmark or Hoist/Hide. These items can be used to toggle the Mark status for multiple Notes at once.

If you are interested, then I would appreciate your feedback on how this has so far been implemented.

Thanks!

This beta version is no longer available. Look for a later beta release or the most recent Mac App Store release.

It seems to work pretty well in my testing. Tested the context menu item in all three Collection views (List, Tags and Outline). Am able to hoist/un-hoist in the Outline view and bulk mark/unmark notes with a particular tag. In the Tags and Outline views, the mark indicator gets hidden for notes with long titles, but I can’t think of a simpler/better alternative.
Look forward to the filtering implementation!
@Malcom, I also the Outline view extensively for structuring collections of notes and I really like Notenik’s outlining abilities.

Would something like the Unicode U+2691 symbol (⚑) fare well as an indicator for marked notes?
